My Aimer may be large and my Panzer may be small, but it'll do some damage.. put 5 or 6 ppl in a confined room with one window and there'll be body parts a-flyin!!

ok i tried /com_maxfps and i set it to 400 to see how high it would go..
but now when i get near or into battle it drops to the 50-60 range
so i set it to /com_maxfps 90 (my average fps b4) and it still is 50-60 in battle
Any ideas???
PS: no more tweakying for me when i get it fixed

You should probably turn down some gfx details or lower the resolution if it's taking that big of a toll in large fights.
You should cap your fps at one of the magical numbers for faster/higher jumping. Mine's capped at 76 right now, hardly ever drops. Unless it's on Radar :S or in an extremely large fight with tons of arty. Hopefully on my new rig I can cap it at 125 and have no slowdowns at all...
Also, it's very important to cap your FPS at one of the magic numbers: 43, 76, 125, or 333. (whichever one you can get a steady FPS with). To do this, you can use the "com_maxfps" variable. Just add a line like "com_maxfps 76" in your autoexec.cfg. When you throttle your FPS to one of these values, numerical error in the Quake 3 engine actually causes you to jump faster. This will make trickjumping easier, and it also lets you do some jumps you couldn't do before. For example, with an FPS of 76 or 125, I can jump on the big crates on goldrush, otherwise it's impossible. Setting com_maxfps may also improve your shooting; it's hard to get precise aim when your frame rate is constantly fluctuating.

You can get really good FPS by turning off textures and turning on wire frames.... course this makes it look like you playing a fancy game of tank battle from the 80's......
Problem is you cant really tell one team from another when they all look like stick people.

With power like that, you should crank it up to 1280x1024 or something...makes seeing far away opponents a lot easier.
I run mine at 1280, used to run at 1024. Even with the hit in performance, won't ever go back to 1024...
1280 should be practically free on your video card with ET...
